1. (V17) The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is the opposite of the Spirit

These two forces are constantly fighting
Cartoon illustration:
It reminds me of a cartoon, where you have an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other.
The flesh is the desire to do wrong (Devil)
The Spirit is the desire to do good (Angel)
a) The works of the flesh are: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these.
b) (v21) Anyone who lives this lifestyle will not inherit the Kingdom of God

2. (V22-23) The fruit of the Spirit

a) Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

3. (V24) Those who belong to Christ

a) Have forsaken their sinful ways
b) Those who truly belong to Christ must be willing to forsake the sinful nature
Does not mean perfection, but you can’t give into those sinful desires
